The consent QR has no gene in it, a badge only reveals its pattern in its encrypted reply. Show it your code, then read what it sends back (decrypts & loads it above). What you get is a gamete: a meiosis (shuffled) draw of the badge's two gene-copies, carrying its baseline mutation. Every gamete a badge sends is baseline-mutated so it won't exactly match the live look, and a bred-up badge reads wide; read a few times for different draws.
